Harrison After School Program Started

Austin Smith from Harrison Parks & Recreation Department said Monday that the Monday through Friday after school program started last week.

Smith discussed that and more on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Monday. He said the program runs from about 3:30 p.m. until close to 5:30 p.m. Smith said the price for the Kindergarten through fourth grade program is close to $35 a week. He said the program is also offered for fifth through eighth grade

The price for those grades to attend is $50 yearly. "They come in, we play a lot of basketball, foursquare, some kickball," Smith said. The kids' favorite game: dodgeball. Kids also have chances to do their homework during the program.

He said that because the splashpad is still open they will take the students to it on Wednesday's early dismissal days. The splash pad season ends on Oct. 1.

Sign ups for the after school program are still open with available spots; however, about spots remain open for Kindergarten. The full interview with Smith is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
