Hail Pelts Area during Saturday Storms, Fire Hazard Today

The line of storms that moved through the Lakes Region pelted the area with hail and high winds.

Numerous reports of 3/4 to over one inch size hail was reported in areas such as Beaver and Flippin in Arkansas as well areas around Cassville, Monett, Lampe, Branson West and Theodosia in Missouri. The largest hail reported was in areas between Reeds Spring and Walnut Shade with up to two inch hail reported around the Stone-Taney County Line along Highway 160. 

Strong winds also moved through the area with a report of some one inch tree limbs broken and shingles blown off some roofs northeast of Table Rock in Taney County. 

Strong wind gusts of 30-40 MPH are possible today with officials advising to avoid outside burning. Parts of the Missouri Ozarks including areas around Branson are listed as a Significant Fire Risk while most of the Arkansas region is listed as a Limited Fire Risk for both today and Monday.
