Great Eclipse Less than a Year Away

An eclipse that will impact areas of the Ozarks is less than a year away.

The eclipse is scheduled to take place April 8 of next year with the path of totality going through much of Arkansas including the cities of Mountain Home and Marshall.

Parts of Marion and Newton Counties are also a part of the path and even parts of extreme southern Boone County could see some partial effects from the eclipse.

Many area organizations are planning for the event including the Newton County Local Emergency Planning Committee, which held a meeting recently to discuss this and other events in the county. In a reap of the meeting published in the Harrison Daily Times, officials say they will keep looking at possible impacts and will do more preparations and reminders as the event gets closer.
