Food Banks and businesses around Arkansas are reacting to the recent announcement of cuts and elimination of programs from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
A recent article from the “Arkansas Advocate” posted by KTLO talked about the cut of $1 billion from the USDA of several programs.
One of the businesses featured in the article is Bansley’s Berkshire Ridge Farm in Harrison, who has participated in the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement. Carol Bansley states in the article that the loss of funding will cost their farm more than $25,000 a month. She adds that the farm sells 3,000 pounds of protein to organizations.
