FOIA in Arkansas

Dr. Billy Ray Lewis from the Transparency in Government Group discussed the Freedom of Information ACT (FOIA) on Wednesday.

Lewis told a story set in about 1966 and the birth of the Arkansas FOIA during KHOZ's "Around The Table" Wednesday broadcast. He said it's an important law and that it grants legal access to many government documents. "It also gives us free access to a lot of the requirements for public meetings," Lewis said. He called it a "two-pronged" law that deals with documents and meeting conduct.

He called it one of the best tools for average Arkansas citizens to use. He said Arkansas was close to being first among the states in the nation to implement FOIA.

The full interview with Lewis is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
