Fire in the Sky Returns to Harrison on July 4th!

Come celebrate 4th of July in Harrison with Fire In The Sky!

Matt Bell with the Harrison Convention and Visitor’s Bureau said the event is coming back all the fan favorites including the Cookin’ for Kids meat smoking competition, ice cream eating contest, hot wing eating contest, frozen t-shirt contest and of course the $25,000 fireworks show at the Anstaff Soccer Complex Monday night.

The Cookin’ For Kids BBQ Cookoff will be underway before most people make it out of bed Monday morning on the Historic Downtown Harrison Square. The cookers will start smoking pork butts at 5:00 AM and the public is invited to come taste test their creations once the meat is pulled from the grill.

Also, on the square is the Sonic Children’s Bicycle Parade that starts at 10:00 AM. Bell said, “It’s amazing how many decorations they put on some of those bikes.”

The action at the soccer complex gets started at 5:00 PM with the opening of registration. The first contest begins at 7:00 PM and it will be the frozen t-shirt competition that challenges contestants to see who can thaw a solidly frozen t-shirt and get it on over their arms and torso first.

The next event is the Dairy Queen Ice Cream Eating Contest at 7:45 PM and it’s followed by the Bucket’s Hot Wing Eating Contest at 8:15 PM. At 8:30 PM there will be an American Tribute by the Boy Scouts and all that leads up to the Fire in the Sky spectacular.

Bell said, “It’s a monster. You don’t look out at the fireworks, when you come down there, you’re looking straight up at them. And it’s a $25,000 firework show, second to none.” Bell expressed his appreciation for the sponsors that make it such a huge show.

The fireworks are set to start at 9:30 PM. More information can be seen by clicking here.
