Federal Sentencing Date Set for Marion County Man

The sentencing date for a 42-year-old Marion County man found living in a cave with a juvenile female who had been reported as a runaway by her family is set for February 6, according to federal court records.

Isaac James Melder, who lists an address along Fort Creek Lane in Yellville, pled guilty to a federal charge of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity in July.

He could be sentenced to life in prison and fined up to $250,000 and will be required to register as a sex offender.
Because part of the incident involving Melder and the 14-year-old Mountain Home girl took place in Baxter County and part in Marion County, state charges have been filed against Melder in both counties. The federal plea agreement does not prevent the state from pursuing charges.
