Explore Harrison's Matt Bell on the Benefits of a Outdoor Dining District

Matt Bell from Explore Harrison talked Tuesday about an entertainment district that was first proposed in 2020; the new proposal will go to the Harrison City Council on Sept. 22

Bell spoke on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Tuesday about the district; the measure didn't pass last time it was discussed. "It allows you to establish what would be an outdoor dining district; the entertainment district is a bit misleading, and I kind of pushed that, emphasized that in 2020," Bell said. He said it's for people who want to "have a cup or not."

Bell pointed out that this would allow for the luxury of outdoor dining experiences. "Wouldn't it be nice to have a little patio opened up downtown adjacent to one of the restaurants to just sit outside and gather with friends and family and have a good meal, you know, and if you want a beverage, more power to you," he said. However, this district would offer more than dining.

Bell said this would be become a downtown economic engine; it would bolster business by attracting people downtown. He said it would be an opportunity for people to enjoy themselves responsibly.
