Elizabeth Darden Talks her Vision as a new Harrison City Council Member

Harrison City Council member Elizabeth Darden talked Friday about replacing Bill Boswell and her vision.

Darden appeared on KHOZ's Friday broadcast of "Around The Table" to discuss the matter. Darden was selected out of four people on Tuesday to replace the former Ward three councilman. She said she is "very excited" but is enjoying time off from teaching school. "One of my passions is to help others, and I think one of my gifts is my ability to communicate with different backgrounds," Darden said. She added that she plans to speak with people in her ward to identify needs. The new council member also talked about current opportunities.

She said the area is "experiencing tremendous growth" and that the area must "accommodate" the new traffic. Darden later commented on homes.

She pointed out the importance of "revitalizing" existing homes, working with investors and addressing homelessness. "We have House of Hope. Let's partner up with House of Hope," she said.

She said building a "homeless village" would not "necessarily" increase problems but help people. She said the community needs to use what it has and put funding where it's needed. She also highlighted her desire to make Harrison attractive for younger people to stay in the area.

"Instead of complaining, let's communicate together," Darden said.

She discussed all of this and more during the interview. The full interview with Darden is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
