Crooked Creek Restoration Public Forum

Public forum for Crooked Creek Restoration in October.

The Harrison City Council met on Thursday night and one item on the agenda was setting a date for a public forum regarding the proposed restoration project for Lake Harrison that involves removing the weir and reverting the waterway back to a free-flowing creek.

The council hopes to hold the forum on October 21st. Verification that facilities at North Arkansas College can be used for the forum is still needed. Mayor Jerry Jackson mentioned COVID concerns and Wade Phillips, Director of City Operations, said that NAC would provide plenty of room for spacing and they are well equipped to handle zoom calls from the design team from Arkansas Game and Fish a other partners responsible for the project.

At the forum the public will be able to learn more details about project and voice their opinions. The forum was originally scheduled for July 1st and Phillips made mention that they are a few months behind, but they hope to move forward soon.

This project was first presented to the council more than two years ago. Several factors have contributed to the delay in progress.

Once restoration begins estimates for date of completion range from 3-5 years.
