City of Harrison Issues Statement on Crypto-Currency Mining Business Proposal

A proposal that has seen many twists and turns since the process began late last year has prompted the City of Harrison to issue a statement in advance of this week's Planning Commission Meeting.

The statement, released on Friday, presents a breakdown of the timeline that started with the purchase of property last November in what was believed to be an un-incorporated area of Boone County but later discovered to actually be inside the Harrison City Limits. The land was purchased by a group with the intent to develop a Crypto-Currency Mining Business into operation.

Since then, concerns have been brought up about the business ranging from the operational hazards to the area to some unknowns about the ownership of the business. All those points plus recent changes in state law pertaining to such businesses have all been outlined in the release.

The Harrison Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting this Tuesday at 1:00 at City Hall where this item will be on the agenda for discussion and public comment.

The entire statement from the City of Harrison can be found here.
