Harrison citizens can use TextMyGov to raise concerns and stay informed, according to Christeen Waters, the mayor's executive assistant.

Waters and Harrison Public Relations Director Donna Braymer appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about that service and more. The technology gives users the ability to contact the local government for various reasons. One number receives texts about potholes, bad streetlights and lose animals.

Texts reporting any of the above scenarios should go to 870-280-2266. Users will receive prompts to which they need to reply. Another number focuses on alerts.

Waters said two "alert systems" are available. The alerts are for occasions like street closings. Users will automatically receive notifications. The other alert is for water leaks.

Anyone wanting water and street alerts can text "harrisonwater" to 91896, and people can also text "harrisonstreets" to the same number for road closings.

Waters implemented the service in Harrison. She has worked in the mayor's office for nearly 17 years and has worked for four mayors. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Waters and Braymer is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
