Chamber Postpones Annual Meeting

The event will still take place as planned but on a different day.

According to Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce Vice President Wilson Marseilles the chamber’s annual meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday January 18th has been postponed until March 15th.

The meeting is supposed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Buffalo National River with keynote speaker Herbert Frost, Midwest Region Director of the National Park Service. Marseilles said that the plan is to have the same event with Frost as the speaker on a new date.

A range of COVID issues are the reasons for postponement. Marseilles said conversations with attendees, the speaker and presenting sponsor led to a feeling of lack of control of the situation. He said it was determined that it would be easier on the business community to reschedule the event.

Marseilles said that for now the event is planned to be the same except a change in date. Equity Bank will be the presenting sponsor and the annual chamber awards will be handed out to businesses and individuals.

He said they also discussed making the event virtual but decided against it as, “this is a cool time for us to celebrate these award winners and get the community together and celebrate everything good that’s happening here.”

The annual chamber meeting is scheduled for 11:00 AM, March 15th, at the Durand Center in Harrison.
