Carter Grace Foundation had Successful Thanksgiving and Christmas Giveaways

The Carter Grace Foundation hosted a successful Thanksgiving and Christmas meal giveaway, according to Bob Brown.

Brown appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Tuesday to discuss it. The organization served 700 hot and ready meals in two hours. Brown said more "cooking vessels" were utilized this year. They began preparing early in the morning to serve cars that were in line as early as 9:10 a.m.

Serving of the food wasn't going to begin until 11 a.m. Brown said that those waiting exhibited patience, adding that at one point, there were more than 60 cars waiting for food.

The cars didn't just have one person in them. "Almost every vehicle had more than one person in the car," Brown said.

Multiple meals were given. Brown said that the crew made sure to go boxes were ready to go.

When they began allowing cars to move, they had to use two lanes. That's in contrast to the single lane system from last year; that system led to cars near 43.

Last Thanksgiving, the foundation gave away 450 hot meals. They gave 190 students gifts for Christmas that same year.

This year, the goal was to give 800 meals away along with gifts to 250 students. Brown said that he thought those numbers were "big."

Brown described the experience as "incredible." "So, that was such a blessing," he said.

He also talked about the foundation's Christmas giveaway. They took money from the 2022 golf tournament sponsorships and combined with the Christmas budget.

This enabled them to give gifts to 254 students. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Brown is available on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
