Candidates for Vacant Council Seat Announced

Three names have been submitted to the Harrison City Council for consideration to fill the vacant seat for the remainder of the term.

Three people have submitted their names to fill a vacancy on the Harrison City Council to represent ward three.

Robert Goulet has resigned his seat, effective December 31st, to take a job out of state.

The three candidates are Roger Orr, Todd Ayers, and Reed Petty.

Of the three, two submitted resumes while Orr only indicated that he was retired according to an email from Christeen Waters with the City of Harrison.

Ayers’ resume indicates that he was a senior support desk technician for FedEx services from 2005 to 2011. From there he became the owner of Shelly’s Sweet Delights until July of 2012. After that he became a data analyst for Wabash Wood Products, this was his current occupation as of October 2021. In addition to these jobs, he owns rental property and has a business called Clover Properties LLC. Ayers also holds an associate degree from the University of Phoenix.

Petty’s resume lists work history dating back to the 1980’s including working in technical services, support and/or development for Sun Carriers Inc., Jones Truck Lines Inc., and American Freightways Inc., which is now FedEx Services. From 1995 to 2000 he worked for CSI Maximus in software engineering. After that he worked as the senior manager of global I.T. operations for FedEx Corporation until his retirement in 2013. Petty also holds a PhD in computer and information science from Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology University in Little Rock as well as other degrees and certificates.

The three candidates will be present at the January 13th city council committee meeting to be interviewed by the council. The city council will pick which candidate will fill the vacant seat for the remainder of the term which expires on December 31st, 2022. All council seats will be up for re-election in November of 2022.
