A Boone County woman is facing felony charges after she admitted to authorities that she made a false report of domestic battery.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 23-year-old Skyla Blanchard went to the 14th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in August to drop charges of domestic battery she filed against her boyfriend, 18-year-old Jimmy Morrell. Morrell was arrested as a result of Blanchard’s initial report in July.
Blanchard admitted in a formal affidavit the report she filed with the Harrison Police Department on July 3 was false and claimed the medication she was on at the time had her “messed up” and she was angry at Morrell. She told authorities the injuries she had shown to officers were caused from a fall that happened days prior to the incident.
Blanchard was booked into the Boone County Detention Center and released on $1,500 bond. She is charged with a felony count of filing a false report with a law enforcement agency.
