Boone County Woman Charged with Assaulting Officers

A Boone County woman, who reportedly contacted law enforcement to report her boyfriend had stabbed himself, has been charged for allegedly assaulting multiple officers.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed last week and posted by KTLO, 37-year-old Kimberly A. Best is charged with felony counts of battery and aggravated assault, as well as a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct.

The charges follow Boone County deputies responding to a residence along Carr Court south of Harrison on Nov. 6, after Best reportedly called saying her boyfriend had stabbed himself in the upper chest.

However, Best reportedly hesitated in allowing the deputies inside to check the man’s welfare and then declined to exit the home, after they gained entrance.

As deputies were tending to the injured man, Best exited the home and went to the side of the house acting like she was hiding.

Her speech was reportedly slurred, with the odor of intoxicants noted. Due to her actions and not knowing how her boyfriend had been injured, an attempt was made to arrest Best, while she maintained the man had cut himself.

Best reportedly attempted to pull away from law enforcement, as she was being placed in a patrol unit.

She is alleged to have tried to bite one deputy before raising her feet and kicking a second one in the head, causing his ear to become red and sore.

Inside the residence, the injured male advised the couple had been arguing, but that he had stabbed himself. He was taken by emergency medical personnel to be examined, while Best was transported to the Boone County jail.

At the jail, Best refused to exit the patrol unit. In the process of removing her, she reportedly spat on two officers.

Bond for Best was set at $10,000.
