Boone County Man Facing Motorcycle Theft Charges

A Boone County man caught earlier this month on outstanding warrants has now been charged in a motorcycle theft.

According to the probable cause affidavit posted by KTLO, on Aug. 12 the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen motorcycle. The victim, who was currently incarcerated, stated he spoke with the suspect, 44-year-old Larry Thompson, about selling the motorcycle for $2,500 and would arrange the purchase through a friend. The friend stated Thompson was allowed to ride off on the motorcycle to get the money, but never returned.

Earlier this month, the Boone County Sheriff's Office released a statement saying Thompson had been captured on outstanding warrants.

During the interview, Thompson told deputies he was going to purchase the motorcycle for $2,000 and claimed to have paid the victim’s friend $600 in cash but did not have a receipt. He stated he was going to pay him, but just didn’t see him.

Thompson told deputies he still had the motorcycle in a storage shed at the residence of his girlfriend’s son. He stated he parked it there because he knew he was about to be arrested for his warrants. The motorcycle was recovered and transported to a storage facility at the Boone County Detention Center.

Thompson is facing a felony count of theft of property and a misdemeanor count of obstruction of government operations. Originally being held without bail, the current statement said he is being held in Boone County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
