Boone County man arrested for driving car into a house & trying to steal an officer’s gun

According to a probable cause affidavit Ismael Lopez was arrested on December 10th on four felony counts that included first degree mischief, aggravated assault, and terroristic threatening.

Officers reported that they were called by Lopez’s brother, Kevin Lopez, to a house on Sunrise Lane in Bergman at 12:38 AM and found Lopez outside the house along with a gray 2018 Toyota Corolla that have heavy front-end damage and was missing its front bumper. Kevin told officers that he awoke to Ismael running the car into his house and running over other items in the yard.

Ismael apparently had contact with law enforcement the previous night and when officers approached him he said, “It’s you again? I told you last night that I was going crazy, can I see your gun?” Ismael reached for the officer’s weapon who grabbed his hand and put it behind his back while another officer grabbed his other arm. Ismael attempted to get away, but he was handcuffed without further incident.

Ismael’s following statements to officers made little sense and consisted of talk about going to war with Boone County and his family trying to kill him. He wanted authorities to call homeland security or immigration. The affidavit says, “EMS was called to evaluate him, and he refused to go and answered all of their questions right.”

Ismael had no identification from any state. The only information officers were able to locate on him was a 2017 arrest record in Texas. He told officers the previous night that he was not an American Citizen.

He is being held in the Boone County Detention Center on a "cash only" $10,000 bond.
