The body of a deceased adult female was located Friday night at a residence in a rural area of western Marion County. The identity of the female is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
According to Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, a deputy took a missing person report around 8 Friday evening from a complainant living in the community adjacent to Marion County Road 5026, or Shawnee Cave Road. Deputies responded to the same residence nearly three hours later after the caller stated she located her daughter, previously reported as missing, unresponsive in a bedroom at the residence. Investigators from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police responded to the residence and reportedly found the body of an adult female deceased at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the body. The coroner is transferring the body to the Medical Examiner’s Section of the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.
