Blood Drive at Camp Jack this Saturday: Door Prizes and Superbowl Ticket Giveaway Entry for Donors

Great prizes for life saving donations at Camp Jack this Saturday.

Callie Mondy with the Jack Williams Veterans Resource Center joined KHOZ’s “Around the Table” on Tuesday to talk about the upcoming blood drive on Saturday, January 29th.

She stressed how critically low the blood supply is nationwide for the American Red Cross.

“Beginning at 9:00 AM at Camp Jack, they’re going to be set up in our meeting room and they’ll be going until about 1:00 PM,” Mondy said, “Our goal is only 40 donors.”

While 40 is the goal Mondy said that she hopes they have many more than that.

Mondy said that in her discussions with a Red Cross representative she asked what types of blood they were needing the most right now. The Red Cross responded, “We need all the blood.”

She described a new process of blood donation that allows a person to give a double portion of blood. It takes a few minutes longer, but it replaces your platelets after your donation and allows you to give more. This is optional to all donors, no one is required to give extra.

She also mentioned a national giveaway that the American Red Cross is doing for the month of January where everyone who donates blood is entered to win tickets to Superbowl LVI in Los Angeles.

The American Red Cross website says, “To thank donors for helping during a time when the Red Cross blood supply is at historically low levels, those who come to give Jan. 1-31, 2022, will automatically be entered to win two tickets to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles, California!*” The package includes other prizes as well. To see the full Superbowl package visit the Red Cross website.

Donors that give blood this Saturday at Camp Jack will automatically be entered into this contest. They will also have a chance to win other door prizes from local businesses. The blood drive is part of a larger veteran health fair Camp Jack is hosting and throughout they day they will be drawing for special prizes every 15 minutes. Mondy said that everyone who gives blood will receive three more door prize tickets.

Sponsoring businesses that will be giving away door prizes include Natures Wonders, Healthy Hub, Townhouse Café, Sullivan’s Pharmacy, and more.
