Veterans and their families in Boone County and the surrounding areas will receive additional support via the Jack Williams Veteran Resource Center thanks to a $10,500 grant from the Arvest Foundation.
The Jack Williams Veteran Resource Center, also known as "Camp Jack", has a mission of improving the quality of life for the more than 11,000 veterans in the area.
“We are bringing all federal, state and local resources that assist veterans under one roof to provide, in effect, one-stop shopping for veteran benefits and assistance,” resource center president Matt Russell said. “This grant from the Arvest Foundation is a big boost to those efforts and we are very appreciative of the support.”
Funds from the Arvest Foundation grant will be used to aid veteran families with honorable burial needs, furnish children of veterans with sporting equipment, and provide electronic equipment upgrades for volunteers.
“We are so pleased to present this grant on behalf of the Arvest Foundation,” said Scott Tennyson, community bank president for Arvest in Harrison. “This is a much-needed venue in our community and we are excited about the programs that will be provided to veterans and their families. We trust this is another example of the Arvest Foundation’s commitment to our communities.”
