The Boone County Regional Airport closed out 2021 with a board meeting on December 21. As the year comes to a close, so does longtime Attorney Jim Sprott’s time serving as the board’s legal counsel.

“It has been an absolute pleasure,” Jim Sprott said of his time with the board.

Jim is retiring from his law practice at the end of 2021. The airport board surprised Jim and his wife, Jan, with several tokens of their appreciation. Board Chairman, Blaise Koch, started off the surprises with a plaque.

The plaque reads, “28 years of service presented to Jim Sprott in appreciation of your many years of service representing the Boone County Regional Airport Administrative Board as our Airport Attorney. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement. We will miss you!”

Layne Ragsdale thanked Jim and Jan for their service to the community and wanted to honor the memory of their son, Daniel Sprott.

“As a thank you for all that you have done for the board and our community. We know how important Daniel’s memory is to your family, so we have donated $250 to the Rotary Club Splash Pad project in his memory,” Layne announced.

With tears in their eyes both Jim and Jan accepted the donation.

The board also presented Jim with a canvas map so that he and Jan can keep up with their post retirement adventures.

“You are my mentor and you have guided me through everything,” Airport Manager Judy McCutchen said to Jim.

Many in attendance shared fond memories of Jim including his time promoting and organizing past air shows.

Jim and Jan plan on spending their new found free time visiting with grandchildren and traveling.
