Aggravated Assault Charges Filed Against Boone County Man

A Boone County man has been charged with aggravated assault on a family member and domestic battery in an incident that occurred Sept. 8 in Harrison.

Twenty-eight-year-old Stephen James Thomas was arrested after the female victim stated he had kicked down multiple doors in the house, choked her, and slammed her against the wall.

According to the probable cause affidavit, when law enforcement arrived, Thomas was sitting in a chair outside. He said that he was in the shower when the victim walked in, started acting crazy and being loud with him. Thomas added that the victim had hit him in the mouth. He claimed that he never hit her and had videos of everything that happened. The officer viewed the videos which only showed Thomas and the victim arguing back and forth; they did not show any physical altercations taking place.

When the victim spoke with law enforcement, she said she originally left the house because Thomas was chasing her around, kicking doors, and threatening to call the police on her. She said she came back to get some of her things and didn’t expect for him to be at the house. She stated when she walked in Thomas was in the shower and became irate with her, got behind and staring choking her, causing her to have a hard time breathing. The victim was able to get away and lock herself in the bathroom to call authorities. The officer observed multiple scratches and bruises all over the victim’s body.

Thomas is being held at the Boone County Jail and Detention Center on $10,000 bond and ordered no contact with the victim.
