Penny Joanne Pinson, age 58, passed away on October 20, 2025.
Penny Joanne Pinson, age 58, of Marshall, Arkansas, was called to her Heavenly Home peacefully on Monday, October 20th, 2025, while surrounded by family and loved ones. Penny battled aggressive stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer, but It never stopped her from living every single moment she had loving her family and grandkids.
She spent the final weeks of her life at her home in her “Happy Place”, where she shared memories with family, and friends and inspiring many with her love, strength, and incredible faith in God. Penny was born on August 12th, 1967, to J.W and Kathy Horton, and had 3 siblings, Diane Brightwell, Jay Horton and Jason Horton. She attended Marshall High School and was a part of the graduating Class of 1985. She later met her husband, Eric Pinson, and enjoyed spending her time attending Races, shopping, hanging out in the shop, and playing board games like scrabble with family and friends.
Eric and Penny went on to have 4 children Matthew, Christopher, Dylan and Meagan, and always said her nephew, Derek, was her son that she didn’t give birth too. They all instantly became Penny’s purpose and joy. Penny would later become a youth leader at New Life Church in Leslie, where she would pick up kids for church, take them to fun events, cookouts, or do game nights.
From Pageants to Basketball games, to Concerts, Penny always loved supporting her kids.
Becoming a Nana to her first grandchild, Peyton, was Penny’s proudest moment. She would go on to have 9 grandchildren,
Where she spent her time playing, ordering toys, clothes, and feeding them all the snacks and chocolate. As she always said, “There are no rules at Nana’s”. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, she loved spending her days cleaning, relaxing in her recliner, watching Judge Judy, yard selling, collecting Stanley cups + Loopy cases, taking road trips with Eric, and decorating her house. Especially for Christmas, where she was sure to make her house look like the set of a winter wonderland movie.
Penny spent the final years of her life fighting, and inspiring. Teaching us to be thankful for every moment we have. To love unconditionally. The power of forgiveness. The power of faith. She had an unshakable walk with God, praising him every moment until he called her home. She now joins her grandbaby, Jaxson Matthew Pitts, and 4 other grandchildren, where she will be the best nana in heaven, just as she was on this earth.
Penny is survived by her husband of 38 years, Eric Pinson of Marshall; her father, J.W Horton and mother Kathy Horton of Marshall; her sister, Diane Brightwell and husband Kurk Brightwell of Marshall; a brother, Jay Horton; and husband Daniel Warren of Stanley Louisiana; another brother, Jason Horton and fiancée Neno Massey; of Bergman, Arkansas; 4 children a son, Matt Pinson and wife Jordan Pinson of Marshall; son, Christopher Pinson and his girlfriend Micaela Altom; son, Dylan Pinson and wife Savannah Pinson of Conway; and a daughter, Meagan Pitts and husband Matt Pitts of Mountain View; her extra child Derek Horton and wife Josey Horton of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Rozalyn, Peyton, Annistyn, Trenton, Royal, Orion, Stella, Sutherlyn, Preston, Mecca, Rowan, and Blakely; Baby R., nieces, Tiffany Ragland , Destiny Brightwell of Marshall; and Arianna Horton of Greenville Mississippi; and nephews, Nicholas Brightwell, Kurkie Brightwell of Marshall.
