Larry Barnette...

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Larry Barnette, entered into Heaven on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the age of 76.

Larry was born on July 14, 1948 in Jackson, TN. After graduating from Jackson High School in 1966, he attended technical school and studied electronics and circuitry. He possessed a natural instinct and acumen in the field and he loved what he did. Larry had worked as an electronic engineering technician with various municipalities throughout Tennessee, including Oak Ridge, Jackson and Memphis. He specialized in security operations, electrical systems and radio communications, including handling the Motorola contract for the city of Memphis. He had also spent time in his younger years, working in radio and was an amazing radio DJ and host. In his teen years, he ran the radio ministry at his home church in Jackson, Tennessee. He is famously remembered for his skill in that work. Moreover, he designed and built an electronic device to enhance the quality of the signal coming from the church worship services that were broadcast to local radio station WTJS. His genius in electronics was profound.

Larry’s occupational interests overlapped with one of his favorite pastimes, being a ham radio operator, under the call sign KC4QI. It was a love he had picked up as a young man alongside his father.

Larry will also be remembered for his musical talents. It was a treasure handed down through his mother's side of the family. Larry had a beautiful baritone voice and played keyboard and guitar. It was while living in Kansas City, he was asked by Sandra Marsh to join her CGMA-winning gospel band. They had a great friendship and mutual love of the Lord that led them to fall in love with each other. They were married in Springfield, MO on October 8, 2005 and eventually settled in Branson. Upon moving to Branson, Larry worked in technical and sound support for various theaters and had a special history and friendship with the Blackwood Singers.

Along with his occupational and musical talents, Larry will be remembered as a man who loved God. His service for Christ began as a young man when he moved to Oak Ridge, TN. He served by teaching Sunday School and was involved in the bus ministry, picking up those who could not get to church on their own, especially children. He devoutly followed Christ, faithfully studied the Bible and passionately preached after becoming an ordained minister. He and Sandra also ministered together in nursing homes in Tennessee and in Branson. Most recently, he used his technical skills to serve with the audio-visual team and the live stream ministry at Faith and Wisdom Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sandra Barnette of Reeds Spring; children, Ronald Barnette (Stephanie) of Camas, WA, Cherie Devor (Jason) of Crossville, TN, Michael D. Barnette (Jaime) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Laura Fields (Sedric) of Eagleville, TN, Duane Marsh (Dallas) of Greenwood, MO and Jason Marsh (Melissa) of Oak Grove, MO; grandchildren, Pastor Devin (Ittress), Erica, Matthew, Amanda, Noah, Ezra, Asher, Levi, Jules, Gavin, Trinity, Ashtyn, Keegyn, Blayze, Kaitlyn (TC), Brenden (Mariah) and Addisyn; great grandchildren Lonna, Carmen, Malachi, Adriel, Kylie, Adley Grace, Paisley, and Olivia; and his fraternal twin brother, Jerry Barnette of Franklin, TN. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Barnette and Mary Evelyn Barnette; his brother, Charles R. Barnette and his son Pastor Jeryl Barnette.

Larry will be remembered as a man of faith with a beautiful voice to worship the Lord. He had technical skills that were remarkable and greatly valued. He was a serious man, intentional and had a good heart. He will be deeply missed till we see him again.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on what would be his birthday, Monday, July 14, 2025 at Faith & Wisdom Church, 3950 Green Mountain Drive, Branson, MO.

Arrangements are in the care of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
