For the second night in a row, a Branson team has won a district basketball game as a lower seed.
Thursday, it was the fifth seeded Lady Pirates who upended fourth seeded Parkview 50-42 in the Class 5 District in Marshfield behind a big night for Branson's Taylor Foster, who scored 25 points. While Branson dominated the first quarter building a 10 point lead, Parkview took over in the second quarter and built a five point halftime lead. Branson started the second half on a 9-0 run to regain the lead then the teams went back and forth before the Lady Pirates pulled away in the final moments avenging a loss to the Lady Vikings earlier this season. Branson will play West Plains in the semi-finals Saturday at 1:00.
The Branson Boys, who as an eighth seed upset top seeded Bolivar in the Class 5 District in Willard Wednesday, will now move on to play fourth seeded Hillcrest in the semi-finals this evening at 6:00 in a game that can be heard on MOARK Sports Dot Com.
Also on MOARK tonight is the Class 4 Boys District Championship in Hollister as the second seeded Tigers will take on top seeded Rogersville at 6:00. Rogersville got a win in Hollister over the Tigers earlier this season.
In Arkansas, the Harrison Goblins now know who their opponent will be in the 5A State Tournament in Pine Bluff. After beating Valley View on Wednesday, the Goblins advanced to the state quarterfinal where they will take on Hot Springs, who won their opening round game on Thursday. Tonight's game will begin around 8:30 and can also be heard on MOARK Sports Dot Com.
