Woman Charged with Chasing Man with a Gun

A Searcy County woman has been arrested after allegedly chasing a man with a gun.

According to a release from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, on April 17, law enforcement units responded to a residence on Trace Ridge Road in Leslie to a report concerning a man who stated he was being chased by a woman armed with a handgun.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell states after arriving on scene, deputies contacted both the man who made the call as well as the woman with the handgun. The man stated his wife, identified as Amberlee Pendergrass, became angry with him and at one point retrieved a gun and attempted to enter the residence he had locked himself inside.

The victim stated while outside the residence, Pendergrass attempted to lay the handgun down and when she did it fired a round into the exterior rock wall of the residence.

After collecting evidence and statements, Pendergrass was arrested for aggravated assault. Pendergrass appeared before Searcy County Circuit Court on April 18 where she received a bond of $10,000.

She is now awaiting a court date in the Searcy County Circuit Court.
