Who are the Buffalo National River Partners and who Will Lead Them?

Terrie Martindale will soon make way for Landon Curtis who will serve as the new president of the Buffalo National River Partners.

The two appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the group and more. Martindale has served as the president for three years; though it normally involves two years of service, she had an extra year.

Curtis works fulltime in banking. He shared that he has had a passion for the outdoors for quite some time. He said his hobbies during his beginning years in banking included boating and more. He recalls his first trip on a canoe and the passion sparking.

Martindale described the Buffalo National River Partners as "the official friends group of the river." With this comes a "memorandum of understanding with the river" on the group's relationship with it.

She explained that the focus is to "help the river accomplish its goals." This long "agreement" with the body of water, Martindale said, helps complete projects, take care of volunteer-related needs and meet money needs.

The president of the group added that the national park system doesn't have enough funds and also has staffing struggles. The Buffalo National River Partners has been officially operating since around 2007. More was discussed on the broadcast, and more information is available on the group's website.

The full interview with Martindale and Curtis is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
