Shirley McCutchen Talks Hope Cottages' big Updates

Shirley McCutchen from Hope Cottages shared Friday about some updates.

McCutchen spoke on KHOZ's "Around The Table" broadcast to discuss the updates. The organization is no longer working under House of Hope. She said that Hope Cottages had a "ribbon Chamber cutting" on Thursday. Hope Cottages is an independent non-profit now.

She said the non-profit identification was obtained "a couple of months ago." McCutchen expressed excitement about the future and revealed that the organization has begun working on two more building projects that lacked funding at the time they were planned.

It's unknown when the two cottages will open. McCutchen said she was told that "it'll be done when it's done."

She added that one of the two cottages, which are larger than normal, will provide accessibility to people with disabilities. When the final projects are finished, more mothers will receive help.

McCutchen said the organization will have the ability to provide housing for seven mothers. Additionally, she said 13 to 18 children could potentially occupy the cottages.

The cottages have operated for four years as of this month. McCutchen said the documentation shows that they've helped "over 56 families, which has included 67 children in that short amount of time."

All of this and more was discussed on the broadcast. The full interview is available on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
