Searcy County Man Arrested for Pointing a Gun

A Searcy County man has been arrested after assaulting an unarmed person with a firearm.

According to the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, deputies dispatched to a report of an individual pointing a firearm towards an unarmed person. Upon arrival, deputies located a firearm at the base of a tree.

During the investigation, deputies found an individual, identified as 57-year-old Gene McCutcheon of St. Joe, wearing a face mask and camouflage clothing, crawling through the briars. When searched, deputies found methamphetamine and ammunition in his pockets.

McCutcheon was charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, aggravated assault, possession of firearms by certain persons, possession of narcotics, fleeing, and listed as a habitual offender.

The investigation is on-going. McCutcheon is currently being held in the Searcy County Detention Center.
