A Harrison man is facing multiple felony charges for forcing his way into an apartment with a hatchet.

The complete story below from KTLO:

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Harrison Police Department were dispatched to a residence for a report of a break in.

Upon arrival officers located the subject, 46-year-old Mark Jacobi, in the parking lot. While sitting on the sidewalk, Jacobi said “apartment six had nothing to do with it. I just kicked their door down.” When asked why, he told officers “no one would come to help.” He continued to say “I knocked, and no one answered, so I kicked it.”

After Jacobi was read his Miranda Rights, he continued speaking strangely saying “dude, I’m telling you, do I have to tackle you?” Officers asked him what he meant by that and de stated, “to take me in?” He was given several clear instructions to sit down, which he ignored. Jacobi continued to advance towards officers in an aggressive manner when he was swiftly arrested and placed in to the backseat of the patrol car.

During the investigation, officers spoke with several victims.

The first victim stated he and his friend heard loud banging outside. When he looked through the peephole of the door, she saw Jacobi poke his head out of the apartment nextdoor with a hatchet. When the victim attempted to close the door, Jacobi forced his way into the apartment stating someone was trying to kill him. While the victim tried to calm Jacobi down, he went into the kitchen and stole a beer. Before Jacobi left the apartment, the victim stated he was able to take the hatchet. After he called the police, the victim heard another loud bang and saw Jacobi run out another apartment and down to the parking lot.

Officers spoke with the victims in the neighboring apartment where they stated everyone was asleep when they were woken by a loud noise and cursing. When they walked out into the living room, they saw a hole in the ceiling and the front door open. Officers observed a large hole in the drywall ceiling between the living room and kitchen, but nothing was reported stolen.

Jacobi was charged with felony count of burglary, aggravated assault, criminal mischief along with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespassing, public intoxication, and obstructing governmental operations. He is currently being held in the Boone COunty Detention Center on $75,000 bond.
