Flippin Business Owner Arrested for not following-up on Work

A Flippin business owner has been arrested after taking money to perform a job and not following up on the work.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 31-year-old John Strain Shoemaker of Yellville agreed to perform a roofing job on a business in Mountain Home and failed to complete the work.

Shoemaker was set to remove two layers of roofing, apply one layer of new shingles, install new pipe flashing, seal around vents, clean up area and dispose of waste material. The client paid Shoemaker a little over $6,000 for materials and the remainder of the total, $5,230 was to be paid after the work was completed.

Shoemaker originally delayed the project due to health reasons and was contacted in October by law enforcement officials to set a new date to complete the project.

Shoemaker then failed to follow through with the project, and while other attempts have been made to get him to return the money, the client stated they did not want him on the property.

Shoemaker has been charged with a class C felony count of theft of property. He has been released on a $10,000 bond.
