Boone County Woman Facing Charges in Stabbing

An area woman has been arrested after stabbing her brother who is legally blind and autistic. Fifty-one-year-old Rebecca Lee Rose of Boone County is the caregiver for the 60-year-old victim.

According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies were called to a house just north of Zinc late last month after Rose had called saying she was suicidal and had cut both her and her brother’s wrist. When a deputy arrived, she told him she didn’t know if her brother was alive because she had cut him badly.

Deputies found the victim who had blood soaked towels wrapped around his arm. The deputy said the approximately four-inch cut was deep enough to expose tissue in the arm and had nicked an artery, causing blood loss with each heartbeat. The deputy said the victim had lost a massive amount of blood from the injury and was transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison for treatment.

While en route to the jail, the deputy says Rose commented she could not take it anymore and was trying to make their lives better.

During questioning by investigators, Rose claimed the injury was an accident because the victim had been antagonizing her.

Rose is facing felony charges of domestic battery, abuse of an impaired person and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person. She is free on $25,000 bond.
