Boone County Man Faces Domestic Charges

A Boone County man has been arrested for allegedly throwing things and punching his pregnant girlfriend.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 3, Boone County officials dispatched to a hotel in Harrison regarding a physical assault. Officials made contact with the victim who stated she was in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, identified as 18-year-old Jimmy Morrell.

Morrell allegedly brought breakfast back to the motel room for the victim and their children when he became upset after realizing he missed a job interview that morning and started to throw the breakfast away. Morrell then allegedly threw a bottle of orange juice at the victim and struck her in the stomach. Officials did not note any exterior injuries to the victim, but she stated it hurt and reported she is twenty weeks pregnant with Morrells child.

Morrell then allegedly took the victim’s only means of communication, a tablet, and began using it. The victim attempted to take back the tablet for fear Morrell would destroy it, when Morrell allegedly snapped it causing it to shatter. Morrell then began calling the victim names such as “moocher” and others, to the point where the victim then slapped Morrell on the mouth.

The victim stated Morrell then allegedly begane to punch her on the left leg and hip causing large redness and bruising, and the victim then hit Morrell on the back with the tablet. All injuries were photographed, including additional injuries caused by Morrell from a previous physical assault incident. The victim was then cleared by EMS and an ultrasound was performed on the fetus, and showed no alarming injuries.

Morrell was originally booked into the Harrison Police Department where he was booked, processed, photographed, fingerprinted and charged with third degree domestic battery. His bond was set at $2,500 cash only for the first 12 hours. He has since been transported to the Boone County Jail for incarceration.
