Art Show at Boone County Library Through March

The Harrison Art League has the Ozark Mountain Student Art Show at Boone County Library now through March.

Michael Kane and Gina Booth appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Monday to discuss the event and the league. It features 135 works of art. While that's the show that's running, the league has two other shows they do on an annual basis in addition to the student show.

They also have a summer show that focuses on small works of art on paper. In the fall, they host the "Artistic Expressions Art Show."

That show spotlights larger works of art. Kane said it's open to artists who aren't members of the league as well. Earlier, he talked about how the group got its start.

The Harrison Art League started in 1963 with the aim of supporting local artists and the arts in general. Kane went on to explain that the group later joined forces with other groups looking to do similar things. The Ozark Arts Council was formed from that.

The league's focus is on paintings, photography, drawings and other handmade art like sculptures. Booth and Kane are both artists; Booth is a retired Jasper school art teacher.

Booth is also the league's secretary and its liaison to the schools. Kane runs its Facebook Page and website; more information about the league is online. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Booth and Kane is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
