Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Marion County mail thefts.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Marion County mail thefts.

In January, Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander reported deputies responded to complaints of stolen mail in northeast Flippin near the Fairview community and near Marion County 7023.

On Thursday, 31-year-old Whitney Townsend and 28-year-old Tyler Dudley, both of Flippin, were arrested in connection with the crime. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, a citizen reported seeing two people taking items from mailboxes on Broadway Street in Yellville. Deputies responded to the area but were unable to locate any suspects or suspicious vehicle when they arrived on scene. After a continued search, deputies stopped a vehicle occupied by Townsend and Dudley on 15th Street.

A witness to the incident identified both Townsend and Dudley as the persons who were seen reaching into mailboxes in the neighborhood.

Both suspects were transported and booked into the Marion County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond and await a first court appearance. Both Townsend and Dudley have been charged with three felony counts of theft, 14 felony counts of breaking or entering and 14 misdemeanor counts of theft of property.

Authorities state the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
