A man who was arrested for an Arkansas crime after admitting to the crime while in Branson is competent to stand trial.

According to Missouri Court Documents, Jeffrey Stansbery of St. Joe was ruled competent in court proceedings in Taney County Circuit Court earlier this month. 

Stansbery has been in the Taney County Jail in Forsyth since September after a series of events in which he made reference to harming a female at his Searcy County Arkansas residence while getting treated at Cox Medical Center in Branson. Hospital Officials contacted the Searcy County Sheriff's Office who in turned contacted Branson PD to interview Stansbery. That interview eventually led to the discovery of a body at Stansbery's  home by Searcy County and Arkansas State Police Officers and led to his arrest. 

Court documents filed in both Searcy County and Taney County Circuit Courts indicate that Stansbery and his attorney have agreed to be extradited back to Searcy County to face charges of Capital Murder and Abuse of a Corpse. While still currently being held in the Taney County Jail, Stansbery is expected to be transported back to Arkansas for an appearance in Searcy County Court sometime later in December or early January. 

In another development in the case, Arkansas 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews has filed notice that a prior conviction for a violent crime in Texas may be used against Stansbery in his upcoming trial.
