Abortion Banned: Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge Talks Abortion in Arkansas

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said Wednesday that all abortions are banned in Arkansas except those which save the mother's life.

Rutledge discussed the decision on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Wednesday. "Roe v. Wade was wrong in January of 1973, and it's been wrong everyday since," Rutledge said. She said when the Supreme Court's decision came down she was able to certify the ban in Arkansas. The attorney general took a few hours before certifying it, while Missouri certified faster.

"As the Attorney General of Arkansas and chief legal officer, I believe it's imperative that I give a great deal of thought and review and that my team of 180--I've got 180 folks that work at the AG's Office, top lawyers in the state that work there," she said. Rutledge added that they take great pride in their work representing Arkansas' people. She said people should understand what the Supreme Court did.

She said they turned the power back to the states. "The Court simply said that this was a decision to be made at the state level," Rutledge said.

The full interview with Rutledge is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
