1999 Ordinance Recently Discovered, Impacts Harrison Property

An ordinance from 1999 annexes southeast Harrison property that at the time was thought to sit outside of Harrison, according to a statement by Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson during Thursday's council meeting.

Jackson said this was "identified" on March 7 of this year. During Harrison's City Council meeting on Thursday "Portions of the subject property have recently been sold to two separate entities, Green Digital LLC and Lakeshore Recycling Services," Jackson said.

The mayor went on to state that Harrison will discuss this with the two parties as well as "the impact of being located inside the city corporate limits." Jackson also said that Harrison is getting details to evaluate "zoning, land development and building code requirements." He stressed transparency for the future.

"We will continue to share information with the public when we receive it," the mayor said. He said he applauds Harrison's staff for finding this. Harrison Director of Public Works and City Engineer Wade Phillips commented on this.

"We're there looking at relocating the recycling center on the property as well as Green Digital LLC," Phillips said. He added that Green Digital is "looking at installing a cryptocurrency mining facility."

He said applications for zoning and land development were shared with the proper parties. Phillips also took questions from council members.

The full meeting is available on the Harrison City Council Facebook Page.
