Buffalo National River officials have announced the cancellation of their concession business opportunity for canoe and kayak rental with transportation and shuttle services.
The solicitation had been announced in the National Park Service’s prospectus earlier this fall, but it was reportedly canceled in the interest of the public.
The original prospectus had outlined effort to relieve vehicle congestion at Buffalo River access points, where parking is limited. Canoe and kayak concessioners would have been prohibited to shuttle the private vehicles of park visitors to locations up or down river by the start of 2026.
According to the news release, the open solicitation had generated numerous questions needing to addressed in the prospectus. The solicitation had required proposals to be submitted by Jan. 26.
National Park Service officials are anticipating the issuance of a new prospectus in the first quarter of next year.
