Mayoral Candidate Rhonda Watkins: Why She's Running

Harrison mayoral candidate Rhonda Watkins said Thursday that she is prepared.

Watkins appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday. She said early voting starts at the end of October. "I'm ready to rock and roll," Watkins said. She discussed why she decided to run for mayor.

"I've been retired for three years. It'll be four years in January, and people came to me, which I was very humbled and surprised, but they were like 'Rhonda, have you ever thought about running for office?" she said. Watkins had run for office before, but she said the people asking her were talking about a mayoral run. She said she had not really considered doing so.

"But you know, I'm one of the citizens that--where is our tax money going? What are they doing with it?" She said this made her decide to run. "I'm very blessed, very humbled that people are behind me," Watkins said.

The full interview with Watkins is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
