Remote learning will take place each school day through next Tuesday except for Monday when school is off for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Originally, only Marshall High School was scheduled for remote learning.

Ozarks DynaCom has also learned that the Valley Springs School District has gone to remote learning the rest of this week.

Original Story:

Marshall High School, like many districts, has seen an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases and according to their social media they are shutting down most aspects of the schools for the remainder of the week.

A Facebook post on the “Marshall High School-Home of the Bobcats” page says, “Due to the high number of COVID cases at Marshall High School, students in grades 7-12 will pivot to an alternative method of instruction (virtual AMI) from tomorrow, Jan. 12, through Friday, Jan. 14. There will be teachers available for onsite instruction and through Zoom and email. Marshall Elementary and Leslie Intermediate Schools will be open for instruction and will be on regular schedule. There will be teachers available on site. Buses will run regular routes. We will provide meals for students who are not on campus, but meals will be pick-up only (no delivery at this time). Please call MHS at 448-3331 before 9 to order meals. Meals should be picked up by 12:00 noon.”

Other posts indicate that sporting events for January 11-14 have been cancelled as well as after school tutoring at all campuses.

The number of students and staff who have tested positive or are in quarantine in the district has not been updated since January 7th on the district website. The social media post only indicates that are a “high number of COVID cases at Marshall High School.”

A call to the district for clarification was not answered. It is assumed that classes will resume as normal on Monday, January 17th.
