A man from Harrison has been arrested for allegedly threatening a woman with a gun.

The man, 40-year-old Justin Lee Smith, also is facing a Class Y felony, the most serious crime in Arkansas not punishable by the death penalty, for having drugs and a firearm.

According to the probable cause affidavit, police were called to a residence earlier this month in reference to a man threatening the caller with a gun. The victim told officers Smith came to the house, saying something was missing from his belongings in the shed behind the house. He then allegedly pulled a gun from his backpack and said “things were going to get very bad” if he didn’t get his things back. He then went to the shed.

When police arrived, Smith was still near the shed with the backpack. Officers found a loaded handgun in the backpack along with a plastic bag containing methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle.

Smith is facing the Class Y felony charge of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms along with other felony charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons, aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is free on $50,000 bond.
