Graddy and Mills Talk Frontline Families and Cops and Kids Christmas Program

Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy and Sargent Jacob Mills talked Tuesday about the department's Frontline Families program that sponsored the Cops and Kids Christmas shopping this year.

Graddy and Mills appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" Tuesday to discuss it. Mills said the 2022 program helped 10 children, and he said it has helped 22 "between 2020 and 2022." The funds for the program are collected in a variety of ways. One of the ways is done during a weekend at Walmart.

Graddy explained that he wasn't able to attend that weekend because of scheduling problems. He said while he makes time to attend, the "last second" issue hindered his plan. However, he expressed his amazement at the citizen-involvement.

"I'm truly amazed at our citizens and what they do for us, what they do for the children," Graddy said. Mills, who is a board member on Frontline Families, explained that Frontline Families isn't just for the Cops and Kids program.

He said the program was for officers only but added that 2020 saw a shift to helping Boone County Law Enforcement who are in need. Mills said that 11 officers have benefitted from the program since 2020. "It's anything from an emergency situation with their child, to you know, a house burning down, things like that," Mills said.

He said it has "been a blessing" to participate in this effort and expressed excitement for the future. All of this and more was discussed during the broadcast.

The full interview with Graddy and Mills is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
