Continuance Granted in Dodson Murder Trial

The murder trial of a former area basketball coach and school principal has been delayed for a fifth time.

The judge in the trial of Rocky Brian Dodson of Omaha has approved the defense attorney’s continuance request. Dodson is accused of murdering his wife, Amanda Christine Dodson, in March 2022. He was the high school principal and boys’ basketball coach at Omaha at the time.

In the court filing, attorney Shane Wilkinson says “Discovery in the case is voluminous.” He says he anticipates “the discovery process to take some time.” He also says Dodson has “retained an expert witness pathologist of his own who is currently reviewing the case and preparing his report.” The attorney asked the court for additional time for this witness “to perform his due diligence.”

Dodson’s trial is now scheduled for July 10.
