Coming up Soon: Annual Arkansas Fiddler's Convention

The 42 Annual Arkansas Fiddler's Convention will run from March 27 through March 30 at the North Arkansas College south campus.

Michelle Burleson appeared with fiddler Clayton Braswell on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the event.

Burleson explained some of the event's history. It launched by Dennis Taylor in 1983 but was energized in 1985 when Taylor and Wayne Massengale teamed up. Massengale played Arkansas Traveller in Little Rock. Burleson said that the fiddle was then made the official instrument of Arkansas.

Massengale compared the event to a well-known nearby city. "I always tell people it's like coming to a mini-Branson," she said.

A big difference: it's a free event and includes multiple rooms with various jam sessions. These sessions don't just include fiddles but guitars and more. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview Burleson and Braswell is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
