Recent Rain Impacts Drought Levels in the Lakes Region

For the first time in several weeks, parts of the Lakes Region has seen significant impacts on drought levels due to recent rainfall.

The latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates the area south of Jasper in Newton County remains at an Extreme Level, but the rest of the region has seen a drop in levels. The most significant is in Marion and Searcy Counties, which is now down to a Severe Level along with most of Boone County including the Harrison area.

In Missouri, levels in the Branson area as well as most of Stone, Taney, and Ozark Counties are down to Abnormally Dry while rainfall in Barry County around Roaring River State Park has eliminated drought conditions. 

A further decrease in drought conditions is possible with rain back in the forecast through the weekend.
