Arkansas Children's University offers an alternative educational setting compared to public school, according to the school's owner and director, Tammy Griggs.
Griggs appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the university. It occupies what was the Melbrook Daycare Center.
Griggs said that 10 years ago she worked at a "private therapy clinic" before being approached about purchasing the building. Early on, she had only five students in the school, three of which were paid students.
The school is allowed to have 57 students now. The private Kindergarten through eighth-grade school has a waiting list and is currently at capacity.
One service the school offers is speech therapy. Griggs said the clinic is called Kid Space.
Other services include physical and occupational therapy.
The school owner and director said she and her husband knew that they were fulfilling God's call on their life to provide this schooling. The school can be reached at 870-743-1033. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview with Griggs is available on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
